Bulath Athak

The oldest Sri Lankan way to invite someone who matters: a sheaf of betel leaves, offered with both hands. The guest swipes up, the sheaf fans open, and the invitation rises from its heart.

Opens withA folded sheaf on a brass tray beside an areca nut, marked with the guest's name. Swipe up and the leaves fan out one by one as the card lifts.
  1. Receive the sheafA swipe fans the leaves open. Elders can be sent a fuller sheaf than friends.
