Our story

Two people, one studio, and a length of cloth that took six years to finish.

  1. 2019

    The wax and the dye

We both worked at a textile design studio in Colombo. Dilini drew the wax lines and Chamara mixed the dyes. Every cloth needed both of us.

  2. 2021

    A first trip to Mirissa

Our first trip together was to Mirissa. We counted the colours of the sea at dusk and agreed that indigo was winning.

  3. 2025

    The cloth that asked

We waxed and dyed a length of cloth together. When the wax was boiled away, the letters it had kept clean read "will you". The answer was yes.

    will you

Second bath · Madder red

The day
